PROBLEMS IN PHOTOGRAPHY
"Photography is, and has been since its conception, a fabulously broad church. Contemporary practice demonstrates that the medium can be a prompt, a process, a vehicle, a collective pursuit, and not just the physical end product of solitary artists’ endeavors." - Charlotte Cotton
This class will focus on what it’s really like to be an artist. As an advanced level studio course, we will focus on the production of new, self-directed work in photographic media with an emphasis on experimentation and artistic expression. By shooting images for projects, multidisciplinary research, visual analysis, vocabulary and artist-name acquisition, discussion, writing assignments, you will demonstrate knowledge of contemporary and historic photographic practices while contributing their artistic voice to the cannon of photography as an art-form.
